WELCOME! WELCOME! WELCOME!


The 2018-2019 school year at Steffan Manor Elementary is here and we are excited.  Your PTO has been busy developing the details for a very productive and exciting year aimed at enhancing the educational environment for all of our students.
 

  In order to be successful, we know that the support and involvement of the parents/care givers of our students, the faculty and staff at Steffan Manor, is key.

  • Your first opportunity to show your support will be to become a member of our PTO. We encourage each of you to show your commitment by joining. Please see the attached flyer regarding the new app!
  • The second way to show your support will be to participate in the numerous events and programs that we have planned throughout the year. Your participation might be that of a committee member, volunteer, or merely as an attendee. Whatever level of participation you select, your time and involvement will certainly be appreciated.
  • You also can show your support a third way by providing us your comments regarding our PTO efforts or suggestions or ideas for other potential PTO initiatives. To facilitate this, please feel free to contact me directly. We in the PTO believe that it is of ultimate importance that we do everything we can to enhance the learning environment of our children as they truly are our future. It will take all of us working together to ensure that this happens.

Steffan Manor has added a new member to our mascot family... Stanley Junior! Thank You so much to Manuals Auto Body and NEDS Auto Paint for everything you donated and did to get our newest mascot ready. He looks fabulous and the kids already love him! 

Books & Breakfast

12/13/2018 - This year's Books & Breakfast was a huge success and went off without a hitch!! Thank You so much to all of the wonderful teachers, volunteers, and community members who showed up and provided not only all of the food, but also helped with every aspect of the event from set up to clean up! It's amazing what we can do when we all come together as a community!

PTO Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, November 27, 2018

 

Meeting began at 3:31 p.m.

Introductions:

  • Kelly Thurston- President, Clarence Martin- Vice President, Julianne Calvo- Treasure Andy McAdams and Kelly Lawrence- Secretary
  • PTO revamped the map and are working on getting the state abbreviations.
  • New project to redo the basketball courts (lines, backboards, polls, etc.), tetherball polls, hopscotch, and playground equipment.

 

Inventory Progress Update:

  • Tons of supplies (pencils, erasers) to open a student store that is run by adults.

 

Box Tops Coordinator- Franklin Taylor:

  • Kelly T. will show Franklin Taylor what to do.

 

Student Store:

  • Volunteers for before or after school
    - Clarence Martin can do Monday and another day that has not been taken.

- Julianne Calvo can do Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.

 

Winter Choir Concert:

  • 3rd-5thgrade concert will be in January “Winter Wonderland”

 

Books and Breakfast:

  • Thursday, December 13 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.
  • The church will be providing food and a few volunteers to read.
  • Volunteers are needed to set-up, clean-up, and for distributing books through,
  • Next Wednesday, December 5thKelly T, Andy, Crabe, and Johnson will set up the tree in the front of the school after school.

 

Winterfest:

  • Not happening this year.  We voted on to put it back on the calendar for the 2019-2020 school year.

 

E-Waste Drive and Car Wash:

  • 7-11 has offered to allow us to use their parking lot
  • Held in April after spring break to use the money for the following year.

 

Color Run:

  • A weekend in June
  • Using Color Blaze website
  • Options that we could do for this event are 

1. Have the event on a Friday after school with local businesses to sponsor a
     class.

2. Have the event on a Saturday with just our school

3. Have a larger event with the community on a Saturday.

  • We will discuss this further next meeting.

 

Fundraising Ideas:

  • Dragon Card- Scratch and Help discounts
  • Family Movie Night with snacks and have auction items.
  • Dining for Dollars at Chipotle where we will receive 50% of the profit.  Some dates that we have in mind was for Thursday, December 20th, Thursday, January 17th

 

Request for Funds and/or Items from PTO:

  • Used for teachers and staff for things they might need.  When it is filled out, it will be decided at the monthly PTO meeting.
  • The office staff requested fifteen $5.00 totaling to $75.00 Starbucks cards for ELAC Meetings.  It was voted on and passed.  We will see if we can get them donated.

 

Other Items:

  • January we will be looking for a list of businesses to donate items.
  • When movies are shown in the lunchroom, the students are uninterested because the speakers are not working.  It is also a problem for performances.
  • How do we boost PTO meetings to get more participation?  All calls, word of mouth, board, flyers, teachers putting it in their notes home, and flyers posted on the website.
  • Coats and jackets in the lost and found.  Reminders to parents and teachers for students to get their belongings.
  • Giving out bumper stickers for 100% Perfect Attendance and also can sell regular Steffan Manor Dragon stickers in the student store.
  • Clarence Martin is looking into the t-shirts.

 

Closing:

  • Next meeting will be on Tuesday, December 18th
  • Meeting was adjourned at 4:22 p.m.
